Farm-to-Fork at
its very best

Southern California foodies typically have a lot to look forward to as the seasons evolve, especially on the Gold Coast with our powerful agricultural legacy. This year, the anticipation rises a notch higher as Totally Local VC presents its Farm-to-Fork Dinner at the… 2017 Dinner Series. Our innovative dining events marry iconic Ventura County locations with some of the area’s top-line chefs, purveyors, wines and brews, preparing seasonal selections harvested from the region’s most celebrated farms.

The series is structured in two successive events, all revolving around seasonal, local fare. Every aspect of the evening – from cuisine to libation to music, entertainment and decor – derives from local auspices and is indicative of and in keeping with the incredible bounty that is Ventura County.

The events are priced to please at $145 per person. This sum buys the experience of five-course meal, paired with local wine, beer and entertainment, an offering that presents a unique community-building opportunity for all involved, from guests to organizers, beneficiaries and purveyors.

The 2017 Dinner Series Schedule

Dinner at the Orange Grove

Orange trees gently move in the evening breeze as the night air fills with the scent of orange blossoms. The moon rises over the historic 1909 home as the sounds of civilization vanish and conversations begin to intertwine. New friends are made and family-style fare is shared. A kings table set within the orange grove is the setting for the season’s first dinner in the Totally Local VC farm-to-fork series, for this spectacular dinner highlighting Spring’s harvest and the bounty that is Ventura County.

The first of this year’s popular Totally Local VC Farm-to-Fork Dinner Series is being hosted by longtime Ventura agriculture mainstays, the McGrath family. Guests will sip, taste and enjoy learning more about the legacy of one of Ventura’s oldest ranches and historic farm families. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Dinner at the Mission

As you enter the gate of the garden, the scent of roses fills the air. The stress of the day is removed and a sense of our rich Ventura County past comes over you. You have found sanctuary. You are in the enchanting gardens on the grounds the San Buenaventura Mission.

Our second dinner in the Totally Local VC Farm-to-Fork Dinner Series this year takes us to Ventura County’s historic birthplace, founded in 1782 by Father Junipero Serra. Guests mingle among the flowers, ornamental palms, and bougainvillea-lined loggias as you sample libations and scrumptious appetizers while meeting new friends. A magnificent old-world fountain burbles as lights twinkle and sunset-kissed skies enhance the magical ambiance.

For dinner, we will walk across the street to Figueroa Plaza, a tree-lined promenade flanked by the colorfully-vintage Peirano’s Grocery building and a lush green park. We’ll dine at a long, elegant table set between two tiled fountains with a ribbon of ocean in the distance. The evening will be an elegant repast with an unusual context as you hear, taste and sample the flavors of our county.

Dinner at the Ranch

Ocean breezes greet you as you take in the views of the Channel Islands to the mountains of Ojai at this unique dinner setting that will take us back to the days of Ventura Avenue’s agricultural past. We are very pleased to add a third dinner to this year’s Totally Local VC Farm-to-Fork Dinner Series, where guests will get a rare, behind-the-scenes peek at Totally Local VC founder’s Wicked Wire Ranch.

As the sun starts to set, we will make our way to a grassy meadow for the evening’s farm-to-fork feast. Provided in true Tuscan style by Chef Michelle Kenney of La Dolce Vita Ristorante fame, the menu will be perfectly paired with wines by Strey Cellars with additional libations from Ventura Coast Brewing Company and Channel Islands Distillery. Desserts created by Ex Voto Chocolates and Confections served with locally-roasted coffee from Beacon Coffee help us wrap up this last of the 2017 Totally Local VC Dinner Series events.
