Did you know… that about 1/3 of all US farms are located within metropolitan areas?

Metropolitan areas make up about 18% of all total US farmland. Just a 10% shift in your food spending to locally grown foods could redirect over 186 million dollars each year to countywide farmers and ranchers. Only 18 cents of every dollar, when buying at a large supermarket, goes to the grower. 82 cents goes to various middlemen. Eating local, shopping at the farmers markets, joining a CSA, visiting local produce stands all helps keep those dollars in our community, all while helping our area farmers. Want to Eat Local?
